Windows 10 End of Life

Upgrade Your School to Windows 11

Windows 10 Expiration – Upgrade Your School to Windows 11
Windows 10 will soon be reaching it’s end of life, but what does this mean for your school’s computer devices and cyber security?

Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will reach its end of life in 2025. This means your school will need to upgrade all software to Windows 11 before this date to ensure your systems remain supported.

If you have computer devices within your school that aren’t compatible with Windows 11, you will also need to replace these devices accordingly.

Failure to plan ahead and upgrade your software and devices will result in your school failing to comply with the Department of Education’s recommended digital and technological standardsleaving your devices vulnerable to potential cyber attacks and malware.

With a range of Windows 11-compatible hardware options available, we are here to help your school transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11, ensuring all software and devices are ready before the end-of-life deadline.

Now is the time to get ahead of the change and upgrade your software prior to 2025. Get in touch with us today!

What is happening?

Microsoft has announced that the latest release of Windows 10 (22H2) will be the final release of Windows 10, with Windows 11 now available. Support for release 22H2 will continue until October 2025, at which point it will receive no further updates. Some earlier releases are already unsupported, including 20H2 or earlier.

Therefore, your school will need to ensure that all your current devices are compatible with Windows 11, which may necessitate purchasing new devices.

What does this mean for my school?

As it did with Windows 7 in January 2020, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10 in 2025. While you will still be able to use the software, you won’t receive any more security, feature updates or patches.

Without these, your computer is at risk of malware and other vulnerabilities that can expose you to hacks, viruses, and more.

To meet the updated digital and technology standards issued by the Department of Education, your school must avoid or replace unpatched or unsupported hardware or software, including operating systems, as these devices are the most popular targets for successful cyber-attacks.

Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade to Windows 11 to ensure your systems remain supported and you ensure compliance with the minimum requirements issued by the DfE.

Windows 11 Minimum Requirements

Windows 11 has higher hardware requirements that exclude many older PCs and laptops because many older CPUs and motherboard types are not supported.

This may mean that some devices will need to be replaced to ensure compatibility with the latest update.

Windows 11 for Education is designed to offer better security, performance, and user experience. Reimagined for a new era of digital learning, Windows 11 will help unlock students’ potential with powerful tools to learn, collaborate, and create—all in a secure and trusted environment.
