Penwortham Girls High School Case Study
Cyber Security & Managed ICT Support
Penwortham Girls’ High School are a well-established secondary school located in Lancashire. They aim to prepare articulate, questioning, tolerant, independent women for the future.
Knowing schools are being targeted by hackers and with a lot of sensitive data at risk, Penwortham Girls’ High School decided it was time to check their network vulnerabilities and take steps to secure their entire network.
They were looking for a thorough and informative audit to outline any open doors or exposures within their systems that could lead to a potential breach. From this, they were wanting a plan on steps to take to prevent an attack.
Tel Group visited Penwortham Girls’ High School and ran a cyber security audit and dark web scan. Through conducting the report, 21,100 attempts to access their network in just one month were identified, and a list of user email addresses appearing on the Dark Web were found.
With this information, we were able to work with them to monitor and eliminate any risks, helping to protect their data and their network. Protective measures have now been put into place to provide complete security, ensuring their current Infrastructure will help them manage future cyber threats.
STRATEGIC ICT PARTNER
Tel Group have been further contracted to provide a managed IT support and strategy service, working as their strategic IT partner.
“There is lots in the press about cyber security attacks on schools. We were looking at whether to purchase additional insurance, but weren’t sure how vulnerable we were. We had a Cyber Security Audit completed by Tel Group and it was thorough, extremely informative and we have a clear picture of our vulnerabilities – and a plan going forward.
They really know their stuff and were really helpful. We were shocked to see how many attempts there were to get into our network! Honestly, such great value for money.”
