The John Bamford Primary School Case Study

Wi-Fi 6 and Cat 6 Cabling

How Tel Group worked with The John Bamford Primary School to provide undisrupted internet access with Wi-Fi 6.

THE CLIENT

The John Bamford Primary School is a thriving nursery and primary school in Rugeley, Staffordshire. With their vision of ‘Learning for Life’ being at the heart of everything they do, they always strive to find additional ways to provide their children with an exciting, rich, and varied learning experience.

THE SITUATION

The John Bamford Primary School wanted to upgrade their Wi-Fi network and associated cabling to provide seamless coverage across the school site.

With a complete understanding of the steps they needed to take to meet DfE Wireless Network Standards outlined in the DfE Meeting Digital and Technology Standards in Schools guidance, they knew they wanted their chosen supplier to provide Wi-Fi 6.

Tel Group were one of the education technology companies The John Bamford Primary School requested a quotation from. After visiting the school, conducting a thorough site survey, and providing a competitive quote, which included a detailed heat map to show projected coverage, The John Bamford Primary School selected Tel Group as their chosen supplier to fulfil their essential upgrade.

The John Bamford Primary School - Wi-Fi 6 Upgrade

THE RESULT

Our experienced engineers visited The John Bamford Primary School during the summer holidays to conduct the proposed project.

We set up and installed 21 Ubiquiti U6-Pro UniFi Wi-Fi 6 access points across the site, providing complete coverage to the entire school, including their mobile building and log cabin. The upgraded connectivity will enable teachers to utilise undisrupted internet access to provide a stimulating learning environment.

A Cat6 network point was also installed, enabling our engineers to replace all the school’s previous cabling with Cat 6 cabling. This essential upgrade means the school will benefit from the superior Wi-Fi 6 speeds, which their previous cabling would have hindered. All associated cabling around the premises was hidden for safety and a seamless and tidy appearance.

Our engineers also replaced the school’s ageing HP Switch with a new Ubiquiti Unifi switch for one of their cabinets.

After completion of the project, our engineers talked the relevant staff through the changes made and answered any remaining questions, leaving the team confident with their new wireless connection. The John Bamford Primary School can now benefit from a fast, secure, and undisrupted internet connection to help them in their mission to provide an exciting, rich, and varied learning experience whilst promoting a safe environment.
