Inspiring Futures Through Learning Trust (IFtL) Case Study
Telephony, Leased Lines and Backup Broadband
Inspiring Futures through Learning (IFtL) Multi Academy Trust, established in 2016, encompasses 15 schools across Milton Keynes and Corby, Northamptonshire.
IFtL are successful in their vision by attracting, retaining and developing the best leaders, teachers and professional services staff.
Out of the 15 schools within the Trust, Tel Group currently support 12 of the schools across a range of services including connectivity and telephony.
IFtL initially approached Tel Group to supply their telecommunications and transition the schools from old and redundant analogue lines to VOIP, consisting of over 180 extensions.
Upon the installation of the phones, Tel Group noticed that the broadband connections to the sites could be improved. We then proposed that the trust looks into either increasing the bandwidth and having a backup connection to increase onsite resiliency.
This suggestion was to support the trust in becoming fully cloud based and in reducing the amount of hardware onsite.
Tel Group provided and are providing MIA leased lines and are the suppliers for the lines and the hardware on site.
The trust decided to stagger their installation dates so Tel Group have continuously been involved with the trust in ensuring the schools have a sufficient leased line connection to support the school (and trust) with their daily school operations.
As part of this installation, Tel Group provided full leased line connections to all the schools within the trust and then installed all their backup solutions which were FTTC at the time.
Now, Tel Group are currently going through the process of upgrading their backup connections to either FTTP and SOGEA, following the announcement that FTTC will become obsolete.
